What is Verruca?A verruca, also known as a wart, is a small, non-cancerous growth Human Papilloma virus on the skin caused by a viral infection. It typically appears as a rough bump, often with tiny black dots in the centre. Verrucae (more than one verruca) are commonly found on the hands and feet but can develop on other parts of the body as well. There is no known cure for verruca(e) and can lay dormant in the skin. They are usually harmless and can go away on their own, but they can be bothersome or painful when they grow deep and wider especially when located on weight-bearing areas like the soles and within the skin layer of the feet. Verruca(e) can appear when the immune system is weak such as colds, flu, stress and poor diet.

What is Swift Microwave Therapy?SWIFT treatment involves the use of microwave energy delivered through a specialized probe which is placed directly onto the affected area. The heat emitted targets the human papillomavirus (HPV) present in the verruca, causing a thermal reaction that destroys the infected tissue. This process triggers an immune response, helping the body to naturally eliminate the verruca. Key features: 1.Success rate approximately 85% 2.Involves the application of microwave therapy to the verruca 3.Non-invasive treatment 4.No need to rest after treatment and minimal post-treatment dressings required 5.Requires up to 3 treatment sessions + depending size and history of lesion If you opts for treatment package includes: 1.Up to 3 treatment sessions every 4 weeks 2.Follow up review 12 weeks after last treatment session 3.Further follow up review 12 weeks later

What happens during Initial consultation?Your first visit to our clinic will be for your foot and general health assessment. We will review your medical history, current medication, allergy status, and your social aspects (work and sports/ hobbies) in context of your foot health. We will check the arterial circulation and neurological sensation in your feet; as certain health conditions will require other checks. A general examination of your feet will allow us to assess beyond the initial complaint that you are attending for (to provide more holistic care). To confirm diagnoses that the lesion is indeed a verruca/wart and not a concerning lesion that may need to be urgently refer onward to a dermatologist. The next step is to present the clinical examination findings and options for your care. Certain health conditions may require further investigation such as blood test before treatment or consent from your GP/Consultant treating your condition. If you are under 18 years old, a parent or guardian must give consent for your care and attend appointments with you. If you are pregnant, we cannot administer Anaesthesia until you have reached your second trimester (after 21 weeks) and other interventions may need to be considered. Therefore, we can advise on how to treat the condition with conventional methods in the meantime and book the surgery for an appropriate time, if required.

What are the treatment outcome?We like to be transparent and highlight the following: · Most treatments are designed to mediate an immune response which is by causing trauma to the tissue to do so, An immune response is initiated, verrucae can still get larger or multiply. This mean the treatment is working. This varies from patient to patient. These increases and outcome of treatment can also be depend on stress, unbalance diet and other external environment such as wetness. But, while verrucae are a challenging dermatological condition, many patients can experience good outcomes! A good consultation will help you to decide what would be the best approach for you. Please note that the success rate is 85% which is one of the highest outcome for verruca treatment. There is no treatment that currently 100%.
